PARTNERS IN PROGRESS:
The Bachmann-Strauss Foundation Forms
Research Alliance with
The Michael J. Fox Foundation
Our role is changing, but our mission continues.
Over the past 20 years, The Bachmann-Strauss Dystonia and Parkinson Foundation (BSDPF) has been leading the way in raising awareness about dystonia and funding research to find better treatments. Now we are advancing our cause one giant step further through a collaborative research alliance with The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF). This partnership, set to launch onJanuary 1, 2015, will facilitate greater visibility and deeper investment in advancing dystonia and Parkinson’s disease research.
Through the new alliance, BSDPF is establishing The Bachmann-Strauss Prize for Excellence in Dystonia Research—a major award to expand public awareness, acknowledge key scientific discoveries and incentivize the work of dedicated researchers in dystonia. The Prize, an unrestricted research grant of $100,000, will honor a researcher who has made profound contributions to dystonia research.
“It’s an opportune time to strategically shift our approach and leverage the current renewed interest in studying the brain and its disorders,” says BSDPF president and founder Bonnie Strauss. “Our alignment with MJFF offers opportunities to make an even greater impact and generate even more awareness on a larger and brighter stage.”
