BILLY Connolly turned down the opportunity to smoke cannabis for relief from Parkinson’s disease during an upcoming TV documentary.

The Big Yin declined the offer of the much-touted remedy in America when he visited a legal cannabis farm.

Connolly met Tom Lauerman, an organic marijuana farmer, during the second leg of his journey across the US in the ITV documentary series Billy Connolly’s Tracks Across America.

“But Billy declined the offer of using it as a means of easing his problems. While he was deeply intrigued by farmer Tom’s story of graduating from prize-winning veg farmer to the biggest pot-grower in Oregon, he’ll stick with conventional medicine.”

The comedian, 73, begins the programme, broadcast on Friday, April 8, in Oregon, which voted to legalise recreational marijuana.

This has allowed the launch of legitimate businesses such as Tom Lauerman of Farmer Tom’s Organics.

So many growers have jumped into the new legal market hoping to make a killing in cannabis they have caused a glut.
