Please join the Parkinson’s community for the Parkinson’s Day of Action on Wednesday, March 2during the 2016 PAN Forum.
On that day, more than 200 advocates from across the country will be on Capitol Hill meeting with their Members of Congress to talk about Parkinson’s disease and several key policy priorities – but you don’t have to be in Washington, DC to be part of the conversation.
You can show your support and participate from home by contacting your Members of Congress on Wednesday, March 2 between 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM ET. We’ll be showing our support in force for the Advancing Research for Neurological Diseases Act (S.849/H.R. 292), which would create a national data registry for Parkinson’s and other neurological diseases at the Centers for Disease Control.

As a member of the Parkinson's community, I ask that you co-sponsor S. 849, the Advancing Research for Neurological Diseases Act, which will create a national neurological disease surveillance system at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This important priority is included in H.R. 6, the 21st Century Cures Act, recently passed by the House of Representatives.
The Advancing Research for Neurological Diseases Act will help improve and enhance the infrastructure at the CDC in tracking the incidence and prevalence of neurological diseases, including Parkinson's disease and multiple sclerosis. The information collected through this surveillance system will provide a foundation for evaluating and understanding many factors such as geographic clusters of diagnoses, variances in the gender ratio, disease burden, and changes in health care practices.
That's why this is a top priority of the Parkinson's community - the data collected under this could truly be a game-changer for a deeper understanding of neurological diseases and provide critical information to researchers as they work on new treatments and the ultimate goal: cures.
