This Cutting Edge Treatment For Parkinson's Disease Could Reduce The Suffering Of Millions

As those who have loved ones affected by Parkinson's disease already know, there haven't been many advancements to treat the symptoms of the disease, an issue that becomes worse and worse as the disease progresses to its later stages. 
But a technological breakthrough has led to a treatment that treats the symptoms at their source, stalling the disease's advancement and drastically increasing the quality of life for those receiving it. 
It's known as deep brain stimulation (DBS), and it uses implanted neurostimulators to treat the tremors, seized muscles, and shakiness experienced by the recipient. 
Showing just how effective this treatment is, Parkinson's sufferer Andrew Johnson received the treatment and offers up a shocking before and after demonstration. (Via Viral Nova)
Over time, his symptoms (namely the shaking) would have gotten worse, but the DBS treatment not only slowed the advancement, but seemed to reverse it drastically. 



The development, though still not standard practice, is a promising development in what's been a difficult battle with the genetic disease.
