Paddle for Parkinson's Labor Day weekend

Aug. 29, 2016

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX

Estimates are that as many as 1.5 million Americans live with Parkinson's Disease (PD), a chronic and progressive movement disorder with symptoms that continue and worsen over time.
According to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation (www.pdf.org) that number is more than the number of people diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy and Lou Gherig's Disease combined, with 60,000 Americans diagnosed with PD each year.
Because the cause of the disease remains unknown, a local group continues to offer support as they work to raise money to help find a cure for PD. On Saturday, September 3rd that group - Catch the Cure - is once again hosting the Paddle for Parkinson's kayak / stand-up paddle board relay.
The event will take place at Padre Island's Billish Park (15601 Gypsy) at 9:00 AM.
For registration and sponsorship information, visit www.CatchTheCure.org. You may also call (361) 960-9597 or (361) 726-1670 or email Paddle4Parkinsons@gmail.com.
