Step Big for Parkinson’s is an annual walk benefitting the South Dakota Parkinson Foundation. It is taking place this Saturday, August 20 at the Canaries Birdcage.
On Tuesday, Riley Conklin with the event joined Sarah Blakely to talk more about the walk.
Parkinson’s Disease affects many people, especially in South Dakota.
The Step Big for Parkinson’s Walk helps bring awareness to the disease and raises money, too. To attend the event, it costs $25 for everyone. But all participants get a free shirt. There is both a 1.5 mile and a 3 mile course to walk. Those with Parkinson’s can choose to walk or be a spectator.
The walk also gives people chance to experience the symptoms that Parkinson’s patients live with through the use of simulators.
There will also be a variety of activities for kids too, including inflatables.
The money raised from the event stay local and help people in South Dakota
