After a successful launch in 2015, Our Walk for Parkinson's series returned for 2016.
An incredible 3,850 walkers took part across 35 events across the country, between them raising £349,702 to support our work, and helping to improve the lives of those affected by Parkinson’s.
We held 35 fantastic walks across the country in some of the UK’s most beautiful parks, countryside and cities. The mileage walked across the year was an incredible 19,558 miles – that’s the equivalent of walking from Land’s End to John O’Groats an unbelievable 32 times.
It was a great opportunity to meet other families that are dealing with Parkinson's. It was another social event that my father in law looked forward to.A Walk for Parkinson's participant, 2016
The events would not have been possible with our team of volunteers, who helped make the walks possible from marshalling to handing out medals.
If you haven’t yet seen the pictures from this year’s walks they can all be found on our Flickr page.
Thank you from our champion of walking
Dave Clark, Sky Sports Presenter and our Champion of Walking, said:
“Thank you to everyone who signed up to Walk for Parkinson’s in 2016. Together we have raised an incredible amount and that money will help us step closer to a cure.
“I’d love to see even more people join us next year at a walk, bring your family and friends and help us continue our march against Parkinson’s.”
