The National Parkinson Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the 500,000 people in the U.S. who live with Parkinson’s disease. Since its formation in 1957, the NPF has raised more than $200 million for research and support services for Parkinson’s disease.
One of the ways they raise funds for their cause is through their “Moving Day” initiative. These events are held throughout the year in major cities across the U.S., helping to support local Parkinson’s communities across the country and raise awareness of the disease.
Moving Day is more than just a walk you can do alone or with a team, the event also features a “movement pavilion” where participants can do yoga, Tai Chi, pilates and dance classes to raise money. Visit the site to find a Moving Day event near you. Last year, Moving Day raised more than $3.2 million and over 15,000 walkers participated. This year the NPF are hoping the event can raise even more money.
