Special therapy for Parkinson's patients

Tyrone, Blair County, Pa. - Patients with severe neurological diseases will soon  regain access to special therapy equipment.

 

The Giger Machine is designed to create pathways around brain areas, damaged by Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke and other neurological conditions.

 

It  was mothballed in December when Tyrone Hospital and Procare ended their partnership at "We Care Therapy Services" for children with special needs.  

 

Patients who said their conditions improved after therapy with the Giger Machine, appealed for it to be put back in service.

 

On Monday, the hospital and the We Care Foundation announced that the equipment will moved to a Procare facility in Pinecroft, Blair County, where patients can again use it. 

 

The Giger machine in our region is one of a handful at facilities across the country.
