Parkinson’s patient Jennifer Parkinson, who was diagnosed with the disease at the age of 32, has co-founded an organization called Neuroboxing which helps fellow Parkinson’s sufferers through boxing classes. Jennifer first discovered the benefits of boxing after her own diagnosis when she found that boxing classes minimized the tremor in her hand. She also felt more energetic and could move more easily.
The class also gives participants the opportunity to be part of a community. The support and friendship they get from their fellow boxers spurs them on.
