Imaging Parkinson's Disease

Oct 04, 2017 | Biolegend

In Parkinson's disease (PD) patients, certain MHC alleles have been found to be more prevalent than others. Researchers are now looking into whether PD is associated with an antigen-specific T cell response to α-Synuclein, a hallmark PD protein that aggregates and forms Lewy Bodies. It is now possible for α-Synuclein in the cerebrospinal fluid to be captured by antigen presenting cells and displayed by PD-associated MHC alleles, promoting adaptive immune responses.
