And we’re all in this together/Blue skies or stormy weather” – Brian Collins
Shine a Little Love Festival creator Brian Collins will also perform Saturday at The Windjammer.
Country music singer-songwriter Brian Collins is ready to “shine a little love” on the Isle of Palms this weekend at a days-long event to benefit MUSC’s Murray Center for Research on Parkinson’s Disease and Related Disorders. We’re talking two Isle of Palms venues (The Windjammer and The Dinghy), four days and 20-plus artists, including Grammy-nominated folk-rocker Shawn Mullins and John Driskell Hopkins as well as Daniel De Los Reyes of the ever-popular Zac Brown Band.
For Brian Collins, music “has been instrumental in helping him heal from some tough times in his life” and he developed the Shine a Little Love Festival in 2014 as a way to give back. “I suppose it’s my soul’s way of self-healing,” Collins said. “If you stay busy doing something good, you can never go wrong. Maybe you can call it a ‘distraction of positive traction.'”
For Mullins, “It’s gratifying to be part of a benefit that contributes to the MUSC center’s serious efforts to find causes of Parkinson’s disease and to create new treatments for this disease.” It also hits home for Hopkins: “Having lost my grandmother to Parkinson’s, I can personally relate to the great work MUSC is doing.”
Additional performers for the weekend include Wyatt Durrette and Levi Lowrey, Farewell Angelina out of Nashville, local favorites Finnegan Bell and Tyler Boone and many more up-and-coming artists. Check the website for details.
