A small team of local dance teachers is furthering diversity and inclusion by teaching movement classes to residents with Parkinson's disease. Dance for Parkinson's Idaho "brings dance, music, artistry and grace" to the Parkinson's community with free classes designed to engage their minds and bodies.
DPI depends on community support, and so is partnering with The Flicks for a fundraising event that includes a DPI performance, a Q&A and a screening of Capturing Grace, which tells the story of dancers with Parkinson's whose lives intersect with a famous New York City dance company. A couple of sentences on the poster for Capturing Grace could be the DPI motto:
"When a legendary dance company and people with Parkinson's join forces, there are no patients. There are only dancers." A $15 entry fee will get you in the door for the 7 p.m. showing.
Dance for Parkinson's Fundraiser: Capturing Grace Documentary @ The Flicks
