The Parkinson's Foundation today announced the launch of its new brand and website following the recent merger of two legacy organizations – National Parkinson Foundation and Parkinson's Disease Foundation – as part of its mission to fight on behalf of everyone living with Parkinson's disease (PD).
Parkinson's disease affects an estimated one million Americans and 10 million worldwide. It is the second-most common neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer's and the 14th-leading cause of death in the United States.
"We are thrilled to launch our new website and brand, which capture the essence of our mission as leaders in the fight against Parkinson's disease," said John L. Lehr, chief executive officer of the Parkinson's Foundation. "Our new logo is a unifying symbol that represents a global movement to end Parkinson's and a steadfast commitment to make life better for people living with the disease."
The new website at www.parkinson.org is designed to serve as the most trusted source of Parkinson's research and information. Devoted to increasing awareness and understanding of the disease as well as access to help and support, the site features:
- Information on understanding and living with Parkinson's
- Extensive educational resources with free publications for download
- "Find a Resource Near Me" that connects people to local Parkinson's experts and community organizations
- Popular "Ask the Doctor" online forums
- Expanded content written by Parkinson's researchers, neurologists and experienced caregivers
- Easy-to-use "Start Your Own Fundraising Page" tool
- Information in Spanish
The new brand will also be rolled out across the Parkinson's Foundation's varied online and print publications. The logo, visual design and overall brand strategy is built around the concept of making measurable progress through collaboration with all members of the Parkinson's community. The brand system was created by Ultravirgo, an independent design agency in New York with a long history of developing brands for organizations focused on improving lives.

About Parkinson's Disease
Affecting an estimated one million Americans and 10 million worldwide, Parkinson's disease is the second-most common neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer's and is the 14th-leading cause of death in the United States. It is associated with a progressive loss of motor control (e.g., shaking or tremor at rest and lack of facial expression) as well as non-motor symptoms (e.g., depression and anxiety). There is no cure for PD and 60,000 new cases are diagnosed each year in the United States alone.
