By Ryan Burk Milwaukee    Aug. 28, 2019

KENOSHA, Wis. (SPECTRUM NEWS)-  People with Parkinson's Disease are often no strangers to a fight, fighting to make sure their symptoms don't interfere with everyday life. However, for a group of people in Kenosha, fighting back against Parkinson's is taking a literal meaning.
Go the Distance Fitness is the latest place in Wisconsin to host a chapter of Rock Steady Boxing, a nationwide program which teaches boxing to people with Parkinson's. Kurt Ida is among those taking part in the class. After recieving a diagnosis a year ago, Ida says he has looked for ways to stay active, and that Rock Steady Boxing has provided him a unique opportunity.
“You think about the boxing, not about the Parkinson's, you are still in control for the most part, not as worried about tremors, or things that start happening on their own,” says Ida.
Several Rock Steady Boxing chapters exists across Wisconsin, from the Green Bay area to Madison.
