Helen Hunt revealed Tuesday that her father Gordon died Saturday night at his Sherman Oaks home following a battle with Parkinson's disease.
The 53-year-old Oscar winner called her 87-year-old father a 'master of reinvention' due to his impressive, six-decade career in show business.
'If you asked 100 people who knew him, 100 of them would say he was the kindest man they ever knew,' the Decoding Annie Parker actress gushed to THR.
He was] a journeyman artist...He knew and taught that the work doesn't always find you. You need to create and re-create the work every day.'
Gordon spent over a decade as casting director for LA's Mark Taper Forum, and another decade running the voice department at Hanna-Barbera.
In 1996, Hunt earned a DGA award for his work helming his famous daughter's NBC sitcom Mad About You.
