HEALTH NOTEBOOK: Doctor, physical therapist to lead Parkinson's disease program

Dr. Luis Zayas of Blessing Physician Services and nationally certified physical therapist Mindy Entrup of Blessing Home Care will lead a program about Parkinson's disease treatment options Nov. 18. | Submitted Photos


QUINCY -- Treatment options for Parkinson's disease will be discussed during a free program hosted by Blessing Health System at two different times Saturday, Nov. 18.
The program will be offered from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. to noon at the Blessing Education Center, 5009 Oak. The sessions are free, but registration is requested by calling 877-411-2468 or going to events.blessinghealth.org.
Fellowship-trained neurologist Dr. Luis Zayas of Blessing Physician Services, plus nationally certified physical therapist Mindy Entrup of Blessing Home Care, will lead the program for Parkinson's disease patients and caregivers. Topics will include:
º Basic knowledge about Parkinson's disease.
º Exercise therapy for treating Parkinson's disease, including the LSVT BIG exercise program.
An estimated 1 million people in the United States have Parkinson's disease. There is no known cure.
Parkinson's disease is a long-term degenerative disorder of the central nervous system.
