A man who runs a support group for people with Parkinson’s disease and their carers has told of his hopes for 2018.
Terry Noakes of the North Walsham and Aylsham Support Group said: “Let us hope that a cure for Parkinson’s is found very soon. The figures for people being diagnosed with Parkinson’s continue to rise year on year, but there is very little new medication being made available which doesn’t help a lot of people.”
Mr Noakes took over running the group, which has about 50 members, in 2013. Its next meeting will be at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in North Walsham from 10.30am.
He said: “We are finding that people who are diagnosed with Parkinson’s want to find out about their ailment and how to make the best of a bad situation.
“By going to a local group they can talk to like-minded people, about medication, support, transport, the traits of Parkinson’s, and even make new friends.
“Why not come along and see us? Tea, coffee, and biscuits are provided.”
