Free flu vaccination for people with Parkinson's -UK

People with Parkinson's are advised to get a flu vaccination this autumn, to reduce their chance of becoming poorly.

Free flu vaccinations are available for people with Parkinson's.

Free flu vaccinations are available for people with Parkinson's, and their main carers, through their GP surgery.

Get vaccinated again

This year's vaccination protects against different strains of flu, so it's advised those who had one last year, get vaccinated again.

Studies have shown that the flu jab does work and will help to prevent you getting the flu.

It won't stop all flu viruses and the level of protection may vary between people, so it's not a 100% guarantee, but if you do get flu after vaccination it's likely to be milder and shorter-lived.

Common side effects include a slight temperature and aching arm muscles. Anyone who suffers a more serious reaction should contact their GP.

If you receive Carer's Allowance (a benefit for people who care for someone with a disability) or you are the main carer for someone whose welfare may be at risk if you fall ill, you should also get vaccinated.
