April 30, 2019

On Wednesday, April 10, the United States Senate declared April 2019 Parkinson's Awareness Month, bringing attention to the disease and the needs of patients. Senator Johnny Isakson (R-GA) introduced the resolution and Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) was the co-sponsor. Isakson and Stabenow are the Senate co-chairs of the Congressional Caucus on Parkinson's Disease.
The 2019 Parkinson's Awareness Month Senate resolution:
  • continues to support research to find better treatments and a cure for Parkinson's disease;
  • recognizes the individuals living with Parkinson's disease who participate in vital clinical trials to advance the knowledge of the disease; and
  • commends the dedication of organizations, volunteers, researchers and millions of individuals across the United States working to improve the quality of life for individuals living with Parkinson's disease and their families.
