Concord Conservatory of Music announces new vocal offerings

July 15, 2019

Concord Conservatory of Music, 1317 Main St., Concord, recently announced new vocal offerings.
In voice classes, students develop singing skills and musicianship in a supportive setting. Singing in a group builds a student’s poise and self-assurance.
CCM’s Beginner Vocals for ages 6 through 8 focuses on the development of a child’s voice as they sing age-appropriate songs from a musical theatre repertory. Singers will work on the basic elements of breathing, pitch, voice placement, range development, and tone.
In Young Vocals, students ages 9 through 13 learn how to improve their intonation and rhythm with exercises. This class will get students ready to perform a mix of music ranging from classical to folk, to international styles.
New this fall is the Concord Conservatory Girls Chorus for ages 9 through 14. The Chorus will provide a comprehensive music education with vocal training and musicianship development. No experience is required.
Contact CCM to schedule A child’s informal 5-to-10-minute audition. Free auditions include simple pitch-matching exercises, singing scales, and the familiar song, “Happy Birthday.” Sign up at https://forms.gle/CpS9tEqo5Kr5xtgK6.
Other groups include the new Choral Skills for Adults and Singing with Parkinson’s. The Choral Skills for Adults group is ideal for singers who want to increase their musicianship, range, and flexibility, and especially fine tune their ear-training and sight-singing capabilities.
Singing with Parkinson’s is a singing group for those living with Parkinson’s Disease and their families. It offers them the opportunity to participate in voice therapy while singing, performing, and making music. The group meets weekly at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays and will resume on Sept. 11.
Financial Assistance is available. For more information, contact CCM at 978-369-0010 or email info@ConcordConservatory.org to explore music education options. For more information on each offering, visit http://ConcordConservatory.org.
