Sterling Marlin pulls out of Fairgrounds race over mechanical problems, return coming 'soon'

Staff, The Tennessean  July 14, 2019

Sterling Marlin's return to racing months after deep brain stimulation for Parkinson's disease didn't end up happening Saturday at Fairgrounds Nashville Speedway.
But the two-time Daytona 500 winner did indicate he'll be back on the track – soon.
"With us having mechanical problems all week," Marlin wrote on Twitter. "Clutch issue today so no practice. And a new car. Didn't want the actual race to be my first time on track in this car. Soon."
Earlier in the day, Marlin posted a teaser photo of the car.
Marlin was entered in the pro late model feature. Marlin, 62, last won a race at the Fairgrounds track in August.

He needs two more victories to become the winningest driver at the Fairgrounds.
Davey Coble won the Pro Late Model race Saturday. Casey Roderick took second, and Austin Brawley finished third. Jackson Boone and Daniel Bolden rounded out the top five.
