Vancouver native Ryan Reynolds appealed to fans to donate to Parkinson's research in memory of his father, who died this past weekend.
"RIP Pops," the Deadpool actor tweeted on Wednesday along with a photo of his father presumably holding a a young Ryan Reynolds.
James C. Reynolds died in a White Rock, B.C. hospital on Sunday.
"There will be no formal service," according to his obituary. "In lieu of flowers, Jim's family suggests donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research."
Reynolds has been open about his father's struggle with Parkinson's for 20 years.
He ran for the cause in 2008, saying in a Huffington Post op-ed that "in a moment of extremely poor judgment, I offered to do something big for him.
"I offered to compete in the New York City Marathon. Which was, well... dumb," he wrote. "I am not a runner. I am a running joke."
Reynolds also sits on the board of directors run by fellow Canadian actor, Michael J. Fox, who has been diagnosed with the degenerative disorder of the central nervous system.
"My father hasn't ever really said he has Parkinson's," Reynolds said in an interview with NBC in 2014. "He comes from a very prideful generation and he doesn't really talk about it much."
But despite that, Reynolds said in the interview that his father's illness "kind of galvanized everyone else [in our family] to seek resources, and in a strange way it's really brought us together."
