A woman from North Devon has spoken of her battle with Parkinson's and says if it wasn't for her family and friends she wouldn't be here.
79 year-old Mary O'Hara, has been living with the disease for nine years, and reflects on her battle with remarkable honesty:
Mary can no longer walk unaided and has struggled with depression, but with the help of a trained nurse, she is able to manage her condition.

Every day 24 people are being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in the UK - that's one for every hour of the day.

One in five hundred people across the South West are likely to end up with the disease - and there is still a need to raise understanding of the symptoms and what help is available for those affected.

"There are so many good treatments out there and if one thing doesn't work, another thing will. People are very active to treat parkinsons, so it's not the debilitating thing it used to be."
– LYNN GILL, NURSE
