He's considered one of Glasgow's best-loved comedians who's always up for a laugh.
But in a new video Billy Connolly makes a heartfelt plea to raise money in support of those affected by Alzheimer's and dementia.
Sporting long white hair, the 74-year-old spoke directly to viewers in a video created for Comic Relief - a charity he's supported for many years.
Despite the emotional topic, the comedian uses his unique humour to raise a smile. - in a way only Billy knows how.
He added: "For those who don't know me, I'm the hilarious comedian with a weird beard who once took all of his clothes off for comic relief.
"But that's not what matters, what matters is you at home and this amazing power to change someone's life.
"To give them hope and happiness. I really hope you'll find it in your hearts to give a quid or two to people like Bob. It will be simple and marvelous and you will be so proud of yourself."
The short clip was shown as part of Comic Relief #LetsSingAndDance and after watching viewers took to twitter to express their feelings saying the video had 'made them weep'.
One viewer tweeted: "#LetsSingAndDance It breaks my heart to see my hero deteriorating in front of us but the amazing Billy Connolly brings reality to the fore."
While another added: "I’m a hard-nosed, cynical so-and-so. But that #LetsSingAndDance appeal by Billy Connelly has me weeping like a child."
