On March 19, Marissa Mulhearn of Asbury will be running the NYC Half Marathon with Team Fox in honor of her mom, Nancy, who was diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson's Disease in 2006.
Team Fox is the community fundraising program at The Michael J. Fox Foundation.  Crossing the finish line will be a feat she has strived for since last year, when she devastatingly was forced to pull out of her spot in the NYC Marathon due to an injury.
"I know the disappointment and determination my daughter has gone through to run for me with Team Fox.  I cannot wait to cheer for her on race day" says Nancy.
On March 25, at The Farmhouse at the Grand Colonial, Nancy Mulhearn will host her 5th "Leave Parkinson's Behind Gala" benefitting The Michael J. Fox Foundation.  The theme will be "Denim and Diamonds."
"As difficult as it is to physically plan such an extravagant event, I have learned I must do this to conquer fear," Nancy says.
Festivities include cocktail hour, dinner, open bar, incredible silent and live auction, and spectacular live entertainment.  Tickets will be available until March 15 and are $125 each.  For further details, to purchase tickets, or donate an auction item visit www.leaveparkinsonsbehind.com

About Parkinson's
Over five million people worldwide are living with Parkinson's disease, a chronic, degenerative neurological disorder whose symptoms typically progress from mild tremors to complete physical incapacitation. In the United States, an estimated 60,000 new cases will be diagnosed this year alone. There is no known cure for Parkinson's disease. Current treatments mask symptoms but do not alter or slow disease progression.
