Parkinson’s Foundation Launches New Brand, Website Following Merger

OCTOBER 23, 2017  BY CAROLINA HENRIQUES

Following the recent merger of the National Parkinson Foundation and the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, the newly created Parkinson’s Foundation has launched a new brand and website as part of its mission to help those living with Parkinson’s disease (PD).
The new website is www.parkinson.org.

John Kozyak, chair of the National Parkinson Foundation, said the merger would allow two giants to work together to expand their network and enhance the ability to fund more research in Parkinson’s disease, according to Parkinson’s Life.
The goals of the Parkinson’s Foundation include seeking a cure for PD by supporting scientific research with grants and collaborating with medical research centers worldwide, providing care and support to the PD community, and expanding advocacy and community outreach.
The foundation’s new brand system was created by Ultravirgo, a New York design agency that works with organizations focused on improving lives, according to a press release. The new website is designed to serve as a primary source of Parkinson’s-related research information.

The site also features information about understanding and living with PD; extensive educational resources with free downloads of publications; a “Find a Resource Near Me” feature that connects people with local Parkinson’s experts and community organizations; “Ask the Doctor” online forums; in-depth content written by PD researchers and experienced caregivers; and a “Start Your Own Fundraising Page” tool. The website is available in English and Spanish.
“We are thrilled to launch our new website and brand, which capture the essence of our mission as leaders in the fight against Parkinson’s disease,” John L. Lehr, chief executive officer of the Parkinson’s Foundation, said in a press release. “Our new logo is a unifying symbol that represents a global movement to end Parkinson’s and a steadfast commitment to make life better for people living with the disease.”
The National Parkinson Foundation was founded in 1957 by Jeanne C. Levey. Since the early 1980s, it has funded more than $189 million in care, research, and support services in the U.S., Canada, and other countries, Parkinson’s Life reported.
The Parkinson’s Disease Foundation was founded by William Beck the same year and has contributed more than $115 million for scientific research and nearly $50 million for education and support programs.
