RISE helps slow Parkinson’s progress with targeted exercise

October 21, 2017

The Parkinson's Education and Support Group of Sussex County is grateful to Ryan and Amanda Peters, owners of RISE Fitness + Adventure gym in Rehoboth Beach, for their passion and willingness to provide personalized exercise programs to support those with Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders. The Peters have purchased state-of-the-art equipment including a new box master.

These programs provided by nationally certified Parkinson's Disease instructors like Kelley Harp, Cassandra Parker, Cathleen Lutz, Derrick Quillen and Josh Littleton are of enormous physical and mental benefit to group members living with Parkinson's and more.

These dedicated instructors continually engage, inspire and show members of the Sussex County Parkinson's community how to fight back against this lasting condition using targeted exercise, the only proven method of slowing progression.
Instructors who work with the Parkinson’s group include (l-r) Josh Littleton, Kelley Harp, Cassandra Parker, Shannon Martin, Cathleen Lutz and Amanda Peters.

Kelley, Derrick and Josh focus on teaching how to use the box master and more professional boxing equipment Cassandra focuses on cognitive multitasking skills in her circuit training, and Cathleen directs her skills to cardio with her fun-filled karaoke spinning classes. All instructors supplement these classes with their power moves and weight training classes six days a week.

Group members extend kudos to them all and sincere thanks to the entire fun-filled staff at RISE, especially beaming Shannon Martin who masterminds registration, membership, tours, scheduling client appointments and more.
