WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- A White Plains resident with Parkinson's disease is on a mission to help end the disorder through music.
David Eger, Ph.D., has led fundraising concerts for 14 years in Rye, an effort that has raised over $500,000 for Parkinson's research since its inception.
On Sunday, Nov. 13, his 14th annual Music for Parkinson’s Research concert, to benefit the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, will take take place at Congregation Emanu-El in Rye.
Eger, diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2000, volunteers to organize the chamber concert. It has become a Rye tradition, attracting over 150 guests typically.
Eger recently was recognized for his effort with the PDF Page and William Black Humanitarian Award and named a Westchester Magazine "Healthcare Hero," according to a news release.
"We’re inspired by his commitment to make a difference not only in his community, but for the one million other people across the U.S. who live with Parkinson’s,” said Robin Anthony Elliott, CEO.
Performers will include Attacca Quartet, quartet in residence for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and pianist Gena Raps, faculty member at Mannes College at The New School of Music.
Guests are invited to a wine-and-cheese reception following the concert.

Proceeds support the research of PDF-funded fellow Rosalind Roberts at the Montreal Neurological Institute at McGill University.
The Parkinson’s Disease Foundation is a division of the Parkinson’s Foundation, an organization formed in August by the merger of PDF and the National Parkinson Foundation.
The mission of the Parkinson's Foundation is to invest in promising scientific research that will end Parkinson’s disease and improve the lives of people with Parkinson’s and their families through improved treatments, support and care.
The concert is at 3:30 p.m. at Congregation Emanu-El of Westchester, 2125 Westchester Ave. E., Rye.
